Scribble-in-Law is a new law cartoon from Charles Fincher. Several new strips will be posted each week. Each current cartoon is rotated to the archive when a new one is posted.
Don't expect conventional lawyer jokes here, but instead topical legal humor and satire. In addition to being a cartoonist, Fincher is a lawyer so Scribble will be inside-baseball material primarily for people connected to the legal field and corporate firms.
Scribble-in-Law is done in Fincher's favorite style which is spontaneous and loose on real legal pads which he believes best melds a liveliness of dialogue and drawing. If you want to see some of his polished artwork, check out ScribbleStudios.
Fincher owes the name Scribble-in-Law to my permanent girlfriend, Dana Allison of The Allison Law Firm, an accomplished trial lawyer. Fincher is of counsel to the firm and moves back and forth between art projects and practicing law.
This site began several years back with the LawComix collection of legal cartoons from past projects by Fincher. Fincher's work has run in over 100 law-related publications in the U.S., Canada and New Zealand. Click here to go to the index for the LawComix collection. Of the cartoon projects in the collection, Allison Wilder and Judge Gonzo have not been published and are seen publicly for the first time here. Courthouse Square ran in a small legal publication, and Motion Commotion was done for a fund-raising auction. The rest have been published.
Fincher also authors The Illustrated Daily Scribble which won the People's Pick award for best Web political cartoon of 2006 at About.com. His former political strip Thadeus & Weez ran in the opinion sections of eight daily print newspapers and three online papers. |
